In just 24 hours looters managed to loot from four liquor stores in the Western Cape.On Saturday looters broke into a liquor store in Elsies River, it is alleged that the suspects set the establishment on fire before fleeing from the scene.
According to Brigadier Novela Potelwa the spokesperson of South African policra ,case of arson has been opened after the looters forced their way into the store.Potelwa said the culprits ’ attempt to gain entry into the storeroom were to no avail as the alcohol had already been moved.“They then went on to set the bottles and crates on fire and this led to the ceiling of the property being damaged. No arrests have been made so far.”
Potelwa went on to say that the investigation into the case are in progress.One of the looted store was the one in Elsies River,from which seven arrests were made.At the beginning of April in western Cape, 21 people were arrested this was after 16 liquor stores were looted, this forced the Police Minister Bheki Cele to call for an urgent meeting.
