Foreigners can also benefit fromthe unemployment grant if they are in the country legally



President Cyril Ramaphosa last week on Tuesday, the 21st of April, announced that jobless people will be getting a grant of R350 for the next 6 months as a part of the Covid-19 relief package. Ever since the announcement people have been looking for more information on the issue and some of this information was the question will foreigners also get the grant .

The answer to this question is yes. According to the SASSA CEO, foreign citizens can also apply for the grant.They can apply provided that they are in the country legally and they must have supporting papers or be registered as a refugee and also be unemployed. The applications will be done using WhatsApp or through a USSD number.

The date on when applications for the grant will open will be given in due course . According to the SASSA twitter account, the Minister will provide this information early on the first week of May 2020
