Labour movement leader Zwelinzima Vavi has recovered from Covid-19.He posted a video saying he has tested negative to the virus.
Vavi, who was admitted to hospital after getting the Corona virus earlier this month, posted a video on Twitter on Thursday and he was giving an update to South Africans on about his health condition.
Last week, the SA Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) leader said he was going to get tested for Covid-19 for the third time after his second test came out positive.
“Dear South Africans, friends, comrades and family members, I am a living proof that the virus, corona, can be beaten if we act just follow the regulations that have been outlined by the government, with the backing of scientists here and abroad.
“As you know on April 2 l tested positive to the virus. For the past month l have been surving with the virus.
“Yesterday, me and my wife we took another test and we both tested negative. We are now a corona free family,” said Vavi.
He thanked those who had supported him and his family and constantly sending messages of support while he was fighting this virus.
“These messages played a big role in strengthening us to keep on fighting to survive. Let us not forget that as we are celebrating my victory against coronavirus, more than 5,000 South Africans have now tested positive and more than 100 have already passed away.
“The virus is still spreading and continues to infect, every South African, paying no regards to your social status, anyone can be infected ,you can be infected if you do not obey the rules.”
Vavi expressed relief that he no longer has to wear a mask at home any more. He, however, emphasized that he would wear a mask and gloves whenever he is leaving home.
