Specification
To supervise the carrying out of the contractual activities on deposition and remining projects while uplifting the companys standard, help in planning activities, organising resources, leading people and controlling risks, costs and deviations to make sure that the successful achievement of the mining or deposition plan in respect of quality, productivity, efficiency and financial requirements

Operate Site

Allocate and schedule resources (Plant/Materials/Labour).

See risks associated with resources and take preventative measures.

Carry out deposition or mining plan as per the operating procedure and Code of Practice for the Tailings Storage Facility.

Make sure that handover on activities or shifts is done properly and that daily or shift production targets are met.

Records and report to Superintendent / Senior Superintendent on daily progress or events.

Supervise the sub-contractors or plant hire works and report on status and progress.

Report on resources efficiencies.

Abide by the company standards and policy to maintain high quality of service.

Maintain Safety

Make sure proper housekeeping is done and use of appropriate PPE at all times.

Avoid staff injuries and other incidents.

Report and help on formulating corrective measures against all substandard acts and conditions.

Make sure that risk assessments are done before all activities.

Conduct the time and attendance on all staff.

Conduct Planned Task and observation on the daily basis.

Financial and Cost Control

Supervise and report availability and utilization of people and machinery (Including mobile plant).

Control the material and equipment issue and maintain proof of issuing.

Control and maintain overtime within the requirements and rooster.

Supervise Staff

Teach the staff to create knowledge and experience.

Make sure that company’s disciplinary and grievance policies and procedures are properly applied to your sub-ordinates.

Encourage staff to achieve buy-in on the decision made and improve productivity and efficiency.

Communicate performance standards to your sub-ordinate.

Track and improve performance/production against targets.

Address poor performance through counselling, coaching and discipline.

Marketing and Client Relationship Management (CRM)

Improve the image of the company by maintaining discipline at all time.

Build and promote good relationship with client representatives.

Records and communicate all client instructions and requirements on the daily basis with the Superintendent.

Attend to all clients meeting as requested or instructed by the Superintendent.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 12, Supervisory course

Operational Skills Programme (Slimes Reclamation/Tailings Dam Operations)

EXPERIENCE

2-3 years experience in operations

1 year experience as Team Leader

SKILLS, QUALITIES and ABILITIES REQUIRED

Planning, organising, leading and Controlling skills.

Leadership skills.

Communication and facilitation skills (Ability to communicate in English)

Operational skills.

Problem solving skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

Coaching skills.
