Occupational Health and Safety Officer: Eastern Cape
Boxer Superstores, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pick and Pay, is a rapidly growing Supermarket discount chain operating in all provinces throughout South Africa. Owing to our growth we are looking for an experienced OHS Officer to join our Audit and Risk team. This position is based at our East London Distribution Centre but the successful candidate will be required to travel extensively in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces.

Job Deliverables
To design, manage and implement OHS Risk within the group.
Main Job Functions
Assist in the drafting and application of OHS policy & procedures
Train staff and Implement the OHS online system in stores
Ongoing monitoring compliance with OHS policy & procedures
Review operational OHS self-inspection reports for accuracy and completeness
Follow up on results/implementation of corrective actions from self-inspection reports
Liaise with Operations on OHS compliance
Review incidents/accidents and assist in implementing corrective action to limit future events
Attend Operational meetings when required
Assist in compiling OHS reports/packs
Coach the OHS role players in Operations i.e. SHE Reps, Fire Team Members, First Aiders etc.
Be willing to travel a minimum of 1-2 weeks in a month.
Implement and drive Contractor Management compliance programme
Establish working relations with external stakeholders i.e. Dept. of labour, Local Health Inspectors, etc.
Qualifications and experience
Completed Diploma/Degree in Safety Management
Minimum 3 – 5 years OHS operational experience
Proficient in applicable OHS/SANS/Regulations/Legislation
ISO 45001/ISO 14001 will be advantageous
Valid driver’s licence is essential
Must have a solution orientated approach
